Track And Field Records

Track and field is a competitive athletic event where athletes all compete at different events. Whether it's high school, college or the Olympics, there is one thing they all have in common. They have two goals in mind. One goal is to win the event they are competing in and the other goal is to set a record for the best performance ever in that event. There have been many track and field records set through the years since the first track and field event. There are even middle school track and field records, which prove that great athletes get their start early in life.

Some of the track and field records in races have been very impressive as well as difficult to beat. In 1996, Donovan Bailey, from Canada, set the record in the 50 m race with 5:56 in Reno, Nevada. In 1997, Hicham El Guerrouj, from MOR, set Olympic track and field records in the 1,500 m race and the 1 mi. race with 3:31.18 and 3:48.45 respectively.
