Track and field is a huge athletic competition that may take many months to train for. Most athletes that have made it to the Olympics say they have been doing track and field events since high school or even before that. In order to do the best job they can do, they need to participate in track and field training. Track field training is more than just one kind of training. Some athletes concentrate on one event and doing as well as they can in that one event. Other athletes, however, participate in multi events, so they need to spread their track & field training to include each event. Training for track and field events is about more than just getting in good shape, although that is a large part of it. What may make you trained for one event may not necessarily have you ready for a different one. Your coach or coaching staff will help you to get into good training programs depending on what event you will be participating in.

Your coach will give you all the track field-training tips you need to get you prepared from training right until the actual events. There are many track and field training tips that are universal for every event such as eating healthy. Eating high protein, but low carbohydrate foods will help your body keep the energy it needs. Vitamins and minerals are as much a part of your training as the actual physical training. Water is extremely important at all times.

There are online sites that will give you track & field training free. You can find many of these by doing searches. You can also purchase programs that offer speed training for track field events. This is not the type of training that is normally recommended, but occasionally it may be a necessity. One program in particular is a 12-week program that you use every day. It may be successful for some athletes, whereas others may need a more structured long-term training program. Many athletes take part in full core training for track and field to get the entire body prepared and strengthened.

Training for track and field events usually takes place in time for the seasonal events. For the fall events like long jump, triple jump, shot put, etc., they offer fall field events clinics that specialize in just those events. If your event is hurdles, then a hurdles clinic is available for strictly hurdles. This type of individualized training seems to be most successful.
